Will John Legend be on stage when Jay-Z headlines the Super Bowl? For now, the answer is: nobody has asked him.
Talking with radio personality Fadam Got Da Juice, the R&B star said Jay-Z hasn’t approached him about the Super Bowl LXI halftime show, which takes place at SoFi Stadium on 14 February 2027. And he is perfectly fine with that. “I’m part of the family,” Legend said, adding: “I wouldn’t be mad if he said ‘I’m not bringing no guest out.’” In his view, Jay-Z ranks among hip hop’s greatest, with a catalogue strong enough to carry the show alone.
Why people are asking
The speculation makes sense. On 23 October, Legend joined Jay-Z and DJ Khaled at SoFi Stadium to perform ‘God Did’ during Jay-Z’s anniversary concerts, which celebrated 30 years of Reasonable Doubt and 25 years of The Blueprint. Dr. Dre and Snoop Dogg joined Hov for the finale the next night.
There is a business link too. Legend signed with Roc Nation for management earlier this year after nearly two decades with Ty Stiklorius. Roc Nation has helped produce the halftime show since 2019, but this will be Jay-Z’s first time headlining it. The NFL has not announced any other performers yet.
Guest or no guest, February is going to be big. Stay tuned to RTMRADIO.NET for every update.
