Nigerian music has a new awards show. Radio station Cool FM has announced COMA, the Cool FM Music Awards, celebrating the music and creatives shaping the scene, along with a special Cool FM Icon Award.

How COMA works

• Categories: 17, across four pillars: Music, Creative & Visuals, Fashion & Style, and Culture & Influence
• Eligibility window: 1 December 2025 to 31 October 2026
• Entry: no forms and no submission fees
• How nominees are found: streaming numbers, radio airplay, DJ rotation, social engagement and editorial assessment
• Who decides: a judging panel of industry figures sets the final nominees; winners come from a weighted mix of judges, public digital voting and Cool FM on-air audience participation

Key dates

• 31 October: judging panel announced
• November: nominees revealed and voting opens
• 4 December 2026: winners announced digitally

Cool FM says it will publish the weighting for each category before voting opens.

“Cool FM has spent nearly three decades shaping Nigeria’s music culture,” said Serge Noujaim, the station’s chief executive. Project chairman Joseph Adamu added: “COMA is about recognising real talent, creativity and cultural impact.”
