The “Queen of the Pack” is getting her flowers. Patra has been honoured with the Lifetime Achievement Award by the organisers of the Caribbean Music Awards (CMA), and she says the recognition hit her harder than she expected. She didn’t even open the notification until days after it arrived.

“I got very emotional and it put me in a sense of realisation and meditation.”

Patra

Looking back on the climb, Patra remembered starting out as a country girl entering contests, from school stages all the way to major competitions, at a time when “there were far more males in the industry than there were females”. She said she always wanted “to be a superstar and take my country to the world”, and made a point of learning the business side and valuing the people who work behind the scenes.

Two albums, two vibes

After stepping away from the active scene for a while, Patra is very much back. She has a new distribution deal with J House and Sony Orchard, and plans to release two albums in the first quarter of 2027: one full of her own “Patra vibes”, the other exploring house music. Both are described as message-driven, feel-good projects.

“It’s going to be two different vibes, but it will still represent me; my image, my sensuality, my attitude, everything,” she said. Her latest singles are ‘Me So Sexy’, from the J House Vol 1 project, with a video on the way, and ‘No Threat’. She is also booked for the Rock The Bells Cruise.

Her message to fans? “People haven’t seen anything yet. Patra is warming up.”
