Confidence level: maximum. Blaqbonez has confirmed that his new project, ‘The Maker Must Shine’, is coming next month, which points to December.

Explaining the title, the Nigerian rapper said: “It’s more than a line. It’s an affirmation.” He hasn’t said yet whether it’s an album or an EP, or shared a tracklist.

“I don’t think anybody’s better than me”

Blaqbonez didn’t hold back on his own ability. “I don’t think anybody’s better than me at anything,” he said. Asked if that covers creative fields too, his answer was: “the answer is definitely yes.”

Ice Spice video and a Rema wish

• He says he’s directing a music video for Ice Spice: “It’s about to be crazy.”
• His song named after Ice Spice is reportedly No. 8 on Spotify and No. 7 on Nigeria’s Shazam chart.
• He named Rema as an artist he admires and wants to work with.
• On his schedule: “I’m booked and busy,” including a recent performance in Ghana.

He also says he’s in the top 10 on every platform except Apple Music, and claimed that “People are farming on that platform.” He didn’t name anyone.

Last month Blaqbonez said Burna Boy inspired his energy this year (read our story). Now he’s back with a new mantra: “But a maker must shine.”
