Mark the calendar, dancehall massive. Sean Paul has something on the way for 11 November, and he isn’t giving much away yet.
In a fresh Instagram post, the Jamaican hitmaker told fans “We’ve got somethin’ special 4 y’all”, pinned the date 11/11, added “Save the date” and linked a presave. There’s no title, no cover art and no word yet on whether it’s a single, a full project or a collaboration. A presave does point to a streaming release rather than a show or merch, but Sean Paul hasn’t confirmed what’s coming.
Sean Paul on Tyla, the Grammys and the motherland
The tease lands as Sean Paul’s chat with Time Out South Africa makes the rounds. He looked back on the 2003 Grammys, where he performed alongside Sting, then was sent to a trailer outside the Staples Center instead of a backstage room. His acceptance speech didn’t make the broadcast. “This feels like a disrespect,” he said, adding that it felt like people thought “this music is not going anywhere.”
He also spoke warmly about Tyla. His brother introduced him to her before her global breakthrough, and the two later linked on the ‘Push 2 Start’ remix. “An artist like Tyla sounds authentic to me, and I love that,” he said.
Sean Paul said he grew up in Jamaica hearing local musicians speak out against apartheid, has visited Robben Island, and draws on Mandela’s resilience. “We need the connection to the motherland,” he said. And off stage? “Right now, it’s reading to my kids every evening.”
