BIRDMAN CONFIRMS CASH MONEY AND APPLE MUSIC DEAL
Birdman has confirmed that his label Cash Money Records has signed a new deal with Apple Music.
The streaming service has been busy expanding its roster of exclusive artists which already includes Drake and Travis Scott. Billboard reported on Tuesday that Cash Money and Apple Music has entered into an exclusive partnership. Interestingly, Birdman also confirmed the deal via his Instagram account.
“Its official @thelarryjackson thank you @applemusic Cash Money makes a power move wit @applemusic #BIG BUSINESS #CASHMONEYRICHGANG #lifestyle #MSGLADYS #RESPEK,” Birdman wrote on IG in the caption of a photo of himself and Larry Jackson of Apple Music. Jackson was a key figure at Interscope Records working under the label’s founder Jimmy Iovine and is now working together at Apple Music.
Larry Jackson posted the same photo on his IG with the caption, “Check one off of the bucket list. Signed as an R&B crooner to Ca$h Money yesterday. My life is oh so complete now…Welcome to the fam @birdman5star. Tough negotiator. Much respeck.”
The monetary value of the deal is not known, but perhaps that move will free up some capital for Birdman to pay Lil Wayne if he looses that $51 million lawsuit.
While Drake has an exclusive deal with Apple Music, Nicki Minaj and Lil Wayne are part owners of competing service TIDAL Music. It will be interesting to see how this new Cash Money/Apple Music deal affect these artists who are some of the top artists in rap music right now.
