Yesterday, Rich Homie Quan came under fire for lyrics that seemed to suggest rape on a previously unreleased track, “I Made It.” But now, the rapper has issued an apology for the disturbing lyrics, and his plans to seek legal action for its unintended release.

In a statement, Quan emphasized that he doesn’t condone rape: “‘I Made It’ was never intended to be released. The song was not lyrically what I wanted to say and was not completed. Without my knowledge, there was a studio leak of the recording. I apologize that it’s out; and I have asked my lawyer to pursue a cease and desist on the song immediately. To be clear, I would never condone rape.”

The Atlanta rapper caught heat from fans with the following lyric, that seemed to sanction sexual violence:

“I don’t want your ho/ just want that cookie from her/ She tried to resist so I took it from her/ How are you gonna tell me no?/ You must not know who I am…”

Too little too late? It may be a long road back to Quan’s carefree “Lifestyle,” at least where offended fans are concerned.
